Luke Oeth is just a man. A large man, who owns two cats. And who occasionally enjoys a nice bath. And who is also a creative director at Minneapolis agency, Carmichael Lynch.

Many Other Things

Many Other Things

In the world of online portfolios, some projects just don't get their own thumbnail image. Here is a collection of several such hard-to-categorize projects.

MODERN CLIMATE WEBSITE

We designed the Modern Climate website to showcase our agency’s work and capabilities. The horizontally-scrolling format gives case studies a book-like feeling, and the culture section pulls in real-time feeds from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and the agency blog.

Designer: Evan Stremke
Writer: Patrick Clifford
FRONT-END DEVELOPMENT: Jon Voth

TRYLON MICROCINEMA

The Trylon Microcinema specializes in screening classic movies.
For their showings of Planet of the Apes, we developed a modernized take on the 1968 film.

Art Direction: Rob Franks

PINHOLE CAMERA DIRECT MAILER

The John Roberts Printing company wanted to promote a crazy new cardstock-folding machine. Because this was being mailed to designers, and because designers nerd out on photography, I made a crazy folded cardstock pinhole camera. If you had the time and patience to punch out all the pieces and glue them together, you would be rewarded with your very own grainy, awful-looking photos.

AGENCY: RILEY HAYES

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY

According to research college students think they will always have a chance to quit smoking later, which allows them to rationalize their current smoking habits. These items were handed out on campuses, and part of a larger campaign that made fun of that rationalization process.

THE MINNESOTA TWINS

Here is some work that I did with writer Rob Franks while we were at Hunt Adkins. The players were virtual unknowns, so we gave them exaggerated traits to turn them into modern tall-tales and give people a reason to care about the unproven squad.

ZOMBIE SAW

A personal project, Zombie Saw is an app that I designed and programmed myself. During an initial free/promotional distribution period the app had over 250,000 downloads worldwide, with an unusual amount of interest coming from Germany. Those nutty Germans. The app has since made me tens of dollars.

NERD GLASSES

Put nerd glasses on your face! Another personal app project. Users could take a photo, make it near or far-sighted, and then add one of eight different & horrible frame styles. Then they could save, email or upload the image directly to Facebook. All this before there were even any Snapchats!
